Technical Intelligence (TECHINT) Fundamentals

This 15-module self-paced program, delivered by Travis Butson, provides entry-level to intermediate students (military professionals, analysts, and intelligence students) with a comprehensive foundation in Technical Intelligence. Drawing on real-world intelligence tradecraft and Grey Dynamics Intelligence School principles, the course covers strategic-level TECHINT concepts (like targeting processes, multi-source collection integration, and decision-making support) as well as technical focus areas (radar and electronic systems, aerospace and weapons systems, and foreign equipment exploitation). By the end, students will understand how TECHINT helps prevent technological surprise and neutralize adversary capabilities, and how to apply TECHINT insights to support operations and strategic decisions.The estimated time for this course is around 5 hours

Travis Butson is a former military intelligence specialist, having served 13 years as both a reconnaissance infantryman and an intelligence officer. Shaped by multiple deployments throughout the Middle East and Indo-Pacific, he has a deep understanding of how threats emerge, evolve, and can be effectively countered. His work centers on bringing technical weapons intelligence and the identification and exploitation of complex threat systems into a usable medium. His focus on connecting technical detail with real-world impact brings a grounded, mission-focused perspective to modern intelligence challenges. This ensures both operators and organisations understand adversary systems and tactics clearly, allowing them to act with confidence.
